Android VS Tizen

TECHNOMANIA

Tizen's default layout closely resembles TouchWiz, but without the Google-centric search bar. The status bar is laid out like iOS, with connectivity on the right, the time in the middle, and notifications on the right.

   Tizen sticks colored circles behind all the icons. In many cases, Tizen just uses a round version of the TouchWiz art, like with the calculator and contacts.

   Recent Apps (or "Overview" if you're using Lollipop) is where Tizen really falls down. No thumbnails makes it pretty hard to use.

   Tizen doesn't have expanded notifications or action buttons, while Android does. In Android, right from the notification panel, you can see what an e-mail is about and choose to read more, reply, or trash it.

   Tizen's keyboard seems to just be a copy of TouchWiz without the number row or shadow detailing. Android, on the other hand, has gone full-minimal and removed the key outlines. Tizen and TouchWiz both hide the status bar.

   The Tizen Store, Samsung's "Galaxy Apps" Android store, and the Google Play Store. Not shown: the number of apps, where the Play Store wins by a mile.

   The Tizen browser is pretty much a copy of the Samsung browser on TouchWiz, but Tizen hides the menu under the hardware button.

   The same goes for the calculator, which is white in some versions of TouchWiz and black in others.

   Surprisingly, some screens of the calendars for all three are pretty close. Tizen hides all the controls under the menu button, though.

    The camera is basically a straight port of TouchWiz, while Google goes super-minimal.

    For the contacts list, Tizen uses the round circle avatars that Google has been popularizing, but it keeps Samsung's quick scroll bar on the right side. Most of the controls are hidden in the menu button.

    In e-mail, Tizen again hides most options in the menu button. The blue button on the bottom right is reminiscent of Google's floating action button.

    Tizen goes off on its own and adds a huge blue header to the dialer along with blue-tinted buttons.

    The music player in Tizen actually looks a lot better than the TouchWiz music app.

    Settings (and all lists) get Tizen's blue tinting, blue icons, and blue status bar—unless you change the color.
